I must be one of the biggest ‘Technophobes around. I don’t have an ipod, my mobile phone only makes calls, and the idea of me setting up my own blog, or joining a social network, was unheard of…..
Then, about 12 months ago, I got to hear about ‘Bookarmy’. I’m not even sure how I found out about it, (I think it may have been advertised in the back of a book I was reading,) but I’m certainly glad that I did.
Bookarmy, is a UK site, which has been around since February 2009 and is managed by a small team of dedicated people.
For me, the incentive to finally join the social networking scene, even if only in a small way, was that the site was easy to join and navigate and any problems with spammers, or security issues, are soon sorted out by the Bookarmy team, which is really important to me.
It’s a great place to discuss and review books, build and rate reading lists and get the best book recommendations. Bookarmy, also encourages authors to join the network, so you are able to make direct contact with them, ask questions about their writing, and browse their reading lists, just the same as you can with any of your other friends. It’s a great way to find out who the new movers and shakers are in the literary world. Read more
