She divides her time between her farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales and the slopes of an olive grove in Crete.

My Review Of Mothers And Daughters:

I really enjoyed ‘Mothers And Daughters’, worthy of a five out of five rating, in my opinion. Leah Fleming has written a well balanced, unbiased dialogue, which is completely realistic of what a typical families reaction to the three girls individual circumstances, would have been in the ‘swinging’ 1960′s. Teenagers sought, and were given, much more freedom from convention, but that freer and more unconventional society, was still completely unforgiving and inflexible when personal mistakes were made. Family good name and reputation were all important, and so many young mothers were forced into making ‘the right decision’, but for who?
In this saga, the young people had already seen their own parents, forgiven for similar transgressions, as understandable war-time mistakes. They therefore thought that such understanding would be forthcoming to them, but the elders closed ranks around them, with a ‘do as I say and not as I do’ attitude and it would be some time before acceptance was gained, but at what cost and would it be too late?
Whilst the girls’ mothers were facing their own similar dilemma; of either sharing their experiences and gained wisdom, thus helping their children not to make the same mistakes, or to keep their distance and let their daughters forge their own destinies.
This was an emotionally charged tale of the special relationships that exist between mothers and daughters.
If you liked this saga, keep your eyes open for Leah Fleming’s new book ‘Winter’s Children’, which is due to be published in paperback, November 2010. You can pre-order your copy here, from Amazon.
About Yvonne

I can’t remember a time, even as a child, when I haven’t been passionate about books and reading.
I began blogging, when I realised just how many other people out there shared my passion for the written word and I have been continually amazed at the wealth of books that are available and the amount of great new friends I have made, from literally 'The Four Corners Of The World'.
