It was so nice when author Anne Goodwin made contact to request a guest post slot here at Fiction Books, to coincide with the release of her latest book ‘Underneath’. This introductory post is just meant to whet your appetite a little, with Anne’s personal post due to be published on 21st May 2017, so be sure to stop by then đ

‘UNDERNEATH‘
He never intended to be a jailer …
After years of travelling, responsible to no-one but himself, Steve has resolved to settle down. He gets a job, buys a house and persuades Liesel to move in with him.
Life’s perfect, until Liesel delivers her ultimatum: if he won’t agree to start a family, she’ll have to leave. He can’t bear to lose her, but how can he face the prospect of fatherhood when he has no idea what being a father means? If he could somehow make her stay, he wouldn’t have to choose … and it would be a shame not to make use of the cellar.
Will this be the solution to his problems, or the catalyst for his own unravelling?

ANNE GOODWIN
In Anne’s own words, she has been scribbling stories ever since she could hold a pencil and now writes fiction for the freedom it offers her to contradict herself, although she hates bios for fear of getting it wrong!
During her career as an NHS clinical psychologist, Anne’s focus was on helping other people tell their negelected stories to themselves, although now that her short fiction publication count has overtaken her age, her ambition going forward is to write and publish enough novels to equal her shoe size.
Anne juggles her sentences whilst walking in the Peak District, only to lose them while battling the slugs in her vegetable plot.
As a break from finding her own words, Anne is also an avid reader and describes herself as a barely competent soprano in an all-comers choir.
I write to tame and organise the thoughts that bubble in my head. I write for the part of me thatâs inconsolable and donât have the hands or the talent for painting, pottery or the piano. I write because itâs proven more effective than screaming to communicate my personal truths. I write because publication provides the perfect payback for a painful childhood and because Iâm addicted to alliteration, a glutton for grammar and ruled by the rule of three. I continue writing to discover where my imagination will take me; because if I stopped, Iâd no longer be me.
