‘Deacon’s Folly’ By James Thibeault

“Devon,” said Deacon, ” I know we don’t know each other, and I guess I should be keeping to my own business – which is what this town seems to prefer. Seems like everybody lets the past go, and never ventures back to it. But I’m not like that. I can’t just let this town mock and ridicule you and not know why. It’s not like they treat the other children like they do you. They joke about you from afar, but nobody wants to go near you. It’s amazing, not that they … what I mean, what I’m saying …”

The deacon took a deep breath and exhaled. I looked around the room for the pump because I hadn’t spotted it yet.

“I want to know more about you.”

I can’t remember a time, even as a child, when I haven’t been passionate about books and reading.
I began blogging, when I realised just how many other people out there shared my passion for the written word and I have been continually amazed at the wealth of books that are available and the amount of great new friends I have made, from literally 'The Four Corners Of The World'.
