Great News About Authors Debut Novel

Earlier in 2011, I was introduced to a new author in the romantic contemporary fiction genre, Geraldine Solon, when she contacted me requesting I review her debut novel ‘Love Letters’.

I have since been contacted by Geraldine, with both a request to review her latest novel ‘Chocolicious’ and with some great new updates on the success of ‘Love Letters’.

It seems that things have moved at an extraordinary pace for Geraldine over the last few months, giving a great boost to her writing career.

This Title Is Available From Amazon

In May 2011, ‘Love Letters’ was nominated for ‘The Global eBook Awards’, in the romanc fiction category, although we have a short time still to go, before the award winners are announced, on Saturday 20th August 2011.

In June 2011, ‘Love Letters’ was nominated for and subsequently won, ‘The Beach Book Festival’ award, in the romance fiction category.

The ‘icing on the cake’ however, must be the news that ‘Love Letters’ has been optioned for film and work is due to commence on Monday 22nd August 2011. Dream Real Pictures, is an independent production company, where the director is also a producer/actress and screenwriter so she wrote the screenplay herself. She has, to date, produced mostly Westerns and this will be her first love story, so there is great excitement all round.

Geraldine, is understandably, over the moon at the prospect of watching her debut novel, rise from the printed page, to be acted out on the big screen.

“I still can’t believe all the great news and I’m so excited to watch Love Letters on the big screen. The director is currently casting for actors/actresses for the movie. She is so geared up with this project and I know she’s going to do a good job.”

Watch this space for the rise of her second novel ‘Chocolicious’, whch Geraldine has kindly sent me an ARC for.

I can’t remember a time, even as a child, when I haven’t been passionate about books and reading.
I began blogging, when I realised just how many other people out there shared my passion for the written word and I have been continually amazed at the wealth of books that are available and the amount of great new friends I have made, from literally 'The Four Corners Of The World'.

  • How really terrific…! One hopes the film will do the book justice. I am unfamiliar with that film company…Love the name of it, though. And I am unfamiliar with the book, “LOVE LETTERS”, but I love that title, too….There is a Play with the same name, incidentally, which is “read” ALL the time–usually by two ‘famous’ actors…..Interesting that you say that this book is almost like a play. Is it the same author??

    • Hi,

I hope very much the same as yourself, that the film will do the book justice when it is finished, as Geraldine is so excited about the prospect of her story being brought to life on the big screen.

Dream Real Pictures are quite a fledgling company by the sounds of things and this is certainly their first time working in the field of romantic drama, so I can only send them all best wishes for their forthcoming endeavours.

  • I just looked up the play “LOVE LETTERS” and it was written by A.R. Gurney, and it won The Pulitzer Prize….I didn’t think it was the same author, and it was bbugging me that I couldn’t remeber…so…I looked it up because I wanted to make sure.

Another WONDERFUL book based on letters being written through the years is by Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey, called “A WOMAN OF INDEPENDENT MEANS”…it came out in the late 1970’s and is a superb book—not dated in any way…..There was a film made of that, too, and a play, as well, both by the author.

  • I received this update from Geraldine just a few days ago.
It sounds as though things are moving on at a pace and that filming is well underway.
There is a link to youtube, if you want to check out the first installment of the project.

    • Hi Geraldine,

You must be so thrilled to see your manuscript being transformed into film.

It is looking good so far, so keep up the good work and I hope that progress continues at a good pace for you.

Keep us up to date with the latest events and a date for the finished screening.
