INDIGO (A Novella) by GERALDINE SOLON
BOOK BEGINNINGS / FIRST LINES
PROLOGUE
“They say Heaven bears no pain…no anger…no sadness.
All you feel is peace…joy…and LOVE.
I know…I’ve been there.”
CHAPTER ONE
“My long, ivory dress swayed as I zoomed through the wide evergreen meadow while Michael chased after me. Vibrant lilies, daisies, geraniums, poppies, and perennial flowers raised their necks to see where we were going.
‘Catch me if you can.’ I glanced back at him, my face beaming with a grin.
Behind me, Michael’s bronzed skin glowed in his ashen Caftan. Every day was the same; we would play a game of tag around the meadow, knowing time didn’t exist. Michael always made me win.
Nevertheless, I amped up my speed to get to the other side. Upon reaching the maple tree where we first kissed, I wiped the beads of moisture cascading down my nape.”

NB. I have only shared a few scant lines this time, as Indigo is a novella of some 120 pages. However, having been an early adopter of Geraldine’s books, I just know that length will make no difference to the quality of the narrative or storyline, which is always top notch!

INDIGO – (A Novella)
Grace and Michael are soulmates, and Heaven is the only world they’ve known.
While Grace and Michael play a game of tag, they discover an area prohibited by God. Piqued by their curiosity, Grace urges Michael to explore what’s out there, not realizing that the dark hole is a tunnel that leads to Earth.
Michael is hesitant to probe further, but a slip in the ravine causes him to tumble and land on Earth. Grace can’t afford to lose Michael, so she follows him to Earth, hoping to bring him back to Heaven.
Unbeknownst to Grace, on Earth, Michael is a married man with a three-year-old daughter and has lost all his memories of Heaven, including Grace.
Despite the circumstances, Grace must bring Michael back during the full moon; otherwise, she is stuck on Earth forever.

I have to say that I am not really a fan of the short story or novella, however I been following Geraldine’s work for several years now, so had a feeling this one wouldn’t disappoint – and it didn’t!
I can’t give too much away as it is such a short read, but it is a ‘nice’ way to spend a few summer hours 🙂
Beautiful snippets! Now I can visualize the scenes and the characters, which does make me want to read more.

I didn’t want to share too much, with the whole book only being 120 pages long. Plus the fact that to share any more, would have me going into ‘spoiler’ territory.
It was an interesting concept for a story, it only needed to be a novella length too, and there was a lovely twist towards the end 🙂
It’s a different, yet interesting premise and I like the way it starts off. Perhaps you’ll have me convinced once you do the full review! I like the cover very much.

At 120 pages, this is a really quick read, although there are one or two unexpected twists in the plot.
For a short story it is surprisingly complete, with no loose ends and without the storyline fizzling out towards the end.
Putting a review together for such a short story, was actually quite difficult, so I hope I shall be able to convince you 🙂

Coming back down to earth is definitely a shock for her, I can reveal that much!

It is such a sweet, short read, that I have already read it, and in a single sitting.
Geraldine has always written books with ‘love and life’ as their core message, so I know what I am going to be reading right from the off.
Her descriptive narrative and dialogue never fail to hit that sweet spot and her stories are always an uplifting joy to read!

It is really difficult to post too much about this title ahead of the review, because it is quite a short piece and to give away ‘spoilers’ would be a shame.
I can tell you that Geraldine brings the two converging storylines together in a really special way, that I definitely didn’t see coming!
