This week, my post is slightly different to the norm, as I am featuring a great new book for children, written with the collaboration of several authors, one of which is my long term blogging friend, Tracy Terry of ‘Pen and Paper’.
Also, as Tracy had the honour of writing the very first line of this beautiful book, I have no hesitation in featuring it in this week’s ‘Book Beginnings’, together with a very short extract.
The story behind the book’s conception and publishing is also one close to many peoples’ hearts, regardless of whereabouts in the world you live, as proceeds from the sale of ‘Little Kitty The Cat Burglar’, will be donated to Alzheimer’s Reaserch UK and thus will benefit us all in the long run.
Unfortunately, due to a small glitch, to link through to the information and order page at Amazon, you will need to click on the back cover image of the book below, or you can link up here ..
First Lines
Ah, how I love Sunday mornings! Sunday is positively my second favourite day of the week. Fridays are my favourite, when I always have fresh fish for dinner.
Extract From page 2
And what does this Sunday have in store for me? Tired of having my tummy tickled, even in the spot that makes me purr in delight, and uninterested in pouncing on toes wiggling beneath the bedclothes, I leisurely wander outside into Peppercorn Place.
…
Even for a confirmed Ailurophobiac, this book does look and sound kinda cute. The £5 price tag is going to such a great cause, and now that I am officially a great-auntie, I have someone young enough to appreciate the story 🙂

Life from a cat;s perspective. ha!
My Friday Quotes
Hi Anne,
I am not a huge animal person, especially not cats, as I am petrified of them. However, cats and dogs in particular, do seem to have personalities and habits which are unique and individual and it is all too easy to find myself wondering what an animal might be thinking about a given situation or event.
Having this lovely collection of authors, who have put themselves in the paws of Kitty, to offer a cats-eye-view of the world, is going to be great fun I am sure 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and have a good weekend.
You already know that I’m fan of this sweet little book. Such a great idea and benefitting a worthy cause!
I’m set to begin a new book today, but won’t leave the opening lines in case I change my mind before I start it. (it’s one I picked up here at your site, I believe) 😉
Hi Kelly,
I shall be interested to find out which book you decide to choose for your next read, especially if it is one I might have recommended!
I tend to change my mind about starting a book, if I something else on my TBR list catches my eye, or I happen to have a book on the list which a fellow blogger has recently written about.
I know that I am preaching to the converted about the ‘Kitty’ book, but it is for such a good cause, that I just wanted to use the opportunity of a meme, to reach as many people as possible. And of course, I wanted to let everyone know that we have a celebrity author in our midst, in Tracy 🙂
Have a good weekend and ‘Happy Reading’ 🙂
This looks adorable. And like it has a sense of humor.
Also, it isn’t that much of a stretch to turn the basic plot into something adults would like. (I’m thinking of the novel Watership Down, told entirely from the perspective of rabbits. Or a short story I read a while ago, “Coyote Peyote,” told from the POV of a cat detective in Las Vegas.) I would read a novel for adults written from the point of view of a cat defending her territory 🙂
Hi Hila,
I wish I was a little bit creative, as some of the new generation of graphic artists are so very talented. Kitty has a personality which stands out from the page, doesn’t she?
I have to admit that I am not personally into books told from the POV of talking animals and have never had the urge to read ‘Watership Down’.
The notion is great for a children’s book, but then only up to a certain age, when I am a firm believer in introducing more realistic reading into their schedule.
This is another ‘cat detective’ story, which one of my fellow bloggers highlighted just recently. It has receieved some very positive ratings and reviews, so you might enjoy it 🙂

Don’t forget that ‘Kitty’ is also helping to raise money for a worthwhile cause 🙂
Thanks for visiting so many pages on your visit. I am pleased that you found a few articles worth commenting on and hopefully a few new book choices to take away with you.
Many thanks for featuring this Yvonne. Though I do say so myself it really is a purrfect read for all those cat lovers out there or indeed just anyone looking for a sweet story. Delighted to have been part of this, it was an honour to kick the story off by writing the first chapter.
Hi Tracy,
You are very welcome and I do hope that you didn’t mind me including the extra small excerpt, which is available for everyone to read on Amazon.
I know the buzz I get, when I am included in the acknowledgements or review excerpts of a book and get to see my name in print. To know that you had written and had published a chapter of your own original work, must have been so exciting.
The fact that the joint endeavour is going to benefit such a great charity is fantastic and a worthwhile added bonus.
The Tweet which accompanied the publication of this post attracted the attention of the ‘paper.li’ “Children’s Books Insider”, which has almost 450 followers; so hopefully that will generate a bit more exposure.

This sounds so cute!!
Check out my Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings).
Hi Lauren,
I don’t generally read childrens books, as I have no family members to buy them for. However, having recently been made a great auntie, I now have an excuse to browse the colourful selection of excellent childrens books on the shelves of the shops 🙂
Thanks for stopping by this time, I appreciate your comment 🙂
This sounds like a sweet book that my granddaughter would enjoy. How generous of the authors to give the sales proceeds to Alzheimer’s research.
My Friday post features Beneath Montana’s Sky.
Hi Sandra,
I didn’t realise just how much Alzheimer’s seems to touch almost every family, including my own.
I was also shocked at how many young people are being struck down with the disease and whilst I am a firm believer that our modern lifestyle and the treated, processed foods we are subjected to, has an important role to play in the rapid spread of the disease; research is vital in the fight, if not to eradicate the disease, to at least control the speed and depth of the spread.
If this book helps in that battle in some way, then all power to the ladies who wrote it and that it is also such a sweet story for any youngster to read is an added bonus 🙂
Thanks for the lovely comment, I appreciate you stopping by and enjoy your weekend.
Looks adorable!!
ENJOY!!

Silver’s Reviews
My Book Beginnings
Hi Elizabeth,
The fantastic cover art certainly adds the great first impression, doesn’t it?
The art work was executed by British illustrator and designer Catie Atkinson, who has some amazing work and an impressive list of clients in her portfolio ..

Thanks for taking the time to stop by, I appreciate your comment 🙂
I did see mention of this on Tracy’s blog. Little Kitty The Cat Burglar looks adorable and all for a good cause 🙂 That’s great of you to feature it Yvonne!
Hi Naida,
Tracy must have been so excited to see her name in print and to be receiving the great reviews and ratings that ‘Kitty’ is attracting. To be the one responsible for the opening lines and setting the whole scene for the story, is an added bonus!
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spread the word about ‘Kitty’ a little further afield, as the proceeds are going to such a worthy charity 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to comment, I always appreciate your visits 🙂
I really enjoyed helping to write this book. It is a fantastic little book that has Little Kitty’s wonderful personality jumping right off the page. I am so grateful to all who have bought the book to help such a worthy cause. x
Hi Debbie,
It must be quite strange to have to write just a short chapter for a book and hope that it is going to hang together as a story once all the excerpts are collated together. I wonder just how much discussion and collaboration there was between you all, before pen was ever put to paper?
The reviews on Amazon have been amazing, so it just needs a few more Goodreads members to add their thoughts to the pot.
All the review sites offer a short excerpt from Tracy’s opening pages and if that’s the way you would rather keep it, that’s okay by me. However, if you would care to share a few ‘teaser’ lines from further on into the story, then just send them through and I will be more than happy to publish a second promotional post.
Similarly, if you, yourself and Tracy, or more of you, would care to write a guest post about this still rather unique collaborative writing style and process, then I could use that too 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to add your voice to the discussion.
