Teaser Tuesday 19th June 2012

-.-

WHAT IS ‘TEASER TUESDAY’?

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of ‘Should Be Reading’.

Anyone can take part, by just doing the following:

-.-

1. Grab your current read.

2. Open to a random page.

3. Share a couple of  “teaser” sentences, from somewhere on that page.

4. Be careful not to share “spoiler” sentences.

5. Remember to share the title and author too.

6. Head on over to ‘should be reading’ and leave a link to your post, so that others can share it and you can share other people’s.

It would be great if you then decided to leave a comment for MizB, as we all like to receive them and are interested in sharing your thoughts.

‘SKIN GAMES by ADAM PEPPER

I have skipped ahead to the 78% marker on my kindle edition, which is much further than I have actually read. This means that no matter how much you twist my arm, you won’t find out what is going on here …. “I Know Nothing”!!

So as not to show any ‘spoilers’, I have not included a synopsis for this book, however, if you want to find out more about it, just click on the book image.

If you don’t really want to read any ‘spoilers’ yourself, then you can ‘tease’ yourself a little more, by reading the first few lines of the story … here.

-.-

It was pitch dark by the time I got up to Lafayette Street. I slowed to a crawl as I looked out the window trying to find an address number on one of the apartments.

-.-

The trick was to get in and out fast. The longer I stuck around, the higher the chances of getting spotted by an unfriendly.

-.-

This crime drama novel, was gifted as a request for me to read and leave my comments about by its author, Adam Pepper, and as such was free of charge.

This will in no way influence any comments I may express about the book, in any blog article I may post. Any thoughts or comments will be my own personal opinion and I am in no way being monetarily compensated for this, or any other article.

I can’t remember a time, even as a child, when I haven’t been passionate about books and reading.
I began blogging, when I realised just how many other people out there shared my passion for the written word and I have been continually amazed at the wealth of books that are available and the amount of great new friends I have made, from literally 'The Four Corners Of The World'.

    • Hi Maryellen,

Thanks for stopping by today, it is good to ‘meet’ you. I love checking out new blogs and having someone new to chat to.

I haven’t yet learned just how the book got its title, but judging by what has happened so far and in anticipation of what is to come, I can make a good guess !!

I am eagerly waiting to know just how accurately I have assessed the situation, because I don’t think it is going to be very pleasant … !!

Enjoy the rest of your week

    • Hi Sandra,

From what I have read of the book so far, I think that most of the people he meets are ‘unfriendlies’. He is certainly making more enemies in high places, than he is friends!

Thanks for stopping by with your comments, they are always appreciated.

    • Hi Jessica,

This book was published back in January 2012, so there is every possibility that it has already surfaced on the blogging circuit and I am just a little behind everyone else.

Adam Pepper is an experience author, with several other titles in the realms of urban fantasy, under his belt, so you might well have come across the name before.

‘Skin Games’ is something of a diversification of genres for Adam, but so far as I have read, he seems to be doing a great job.

Thanks for the visit, I hope that you are enjoying whatever it is that you are reading right now and are having a good week so far.

    • Hi Shelley,

He has been in trouble right from the start of the book, but I think that things are set to get a whole lot worse.

I am not yet as far into the story as my teaser lines, but I think I can guess where this is all heading and it isn’t going to be pleasant!

Thanks for stopping by, it is great to talk with you again.

    • Hi,

Thanks for stopping by Fiction Books today and leaving your valued comments, I appreciate them all and it is good to’meet’ you.

I stopped by your teaser earlier and noticed that you seem to like quite hard-hitting storylines. Whilst this book isn’t in the fantasy or paranormal genres (although some of the authors previous books might well appeal to you), ‘Skin Games’ involves the Mafia, so by default I am expecting this one to be quite violent and bloody.

I think that you might enjoy ‘Skin Games’ and I would urge you to check out Adam Pepper’s website:

      Have a good week.

    • Hi Kriss,

It’s a great crime thriller, with plenty of action and violence and ‘he’ always seems to be in trouble, no matter what he does!!

Mind you, get on the wrong side of the Mafia boss and what else do you expect!!

Thanks for the visit and your comments, which are always appreciated.

    • Hi Laurel Rain,

I want to know more and I am already reading the book!

I think I can work out who the ‘unfriendlies’ are, but I have no idea what he could be doing down Lafayette Street ….. unless it’s a setup?

It is all definitely going to end in tears, that’s for sure!

Thanks as always for your thoughtful comments.

    • Hello Irish,

I think that no matter whereabouts in this book I had chosen to take my teaser lines, they would always make intense reading and a ‘what happens next?’ reaction.

The storyline is moving along at quite a pace and I think that ‘he’ is in for a big shock, very soon!

Thanks for visiting today, I always love to receive comments and try to respond to all of them.

    • Hi Jennifer,

This is a great story that I am genuinely enjoying so far and the action looks as though it is only going to get better. I was definitely spoilt for a choice of teaser lines with this one.

It isn’t very often that I find a book that I can’t get on with and even then I will finish it regardless, as I don’t like to be beaten!

Thanks for stopping by, it is always good to chat with you.

    • Hello Ann,

I am just about half way through the book right now and everything is getting quite intense for this young man and he really does have no idea just how much worse it can get.

Thanks for stopping by today, it is always good to ‘meet’ new people and I always respect and appreciate any comments you may wish to make.

    • Hi Leah,

Thanks for visiting Fiction Books for the first time. I love to ‘meet’ and chat with new people and your comments will always be appreciated.

I think that we are in quite a rough area of the Bronx, added to which our character has managed to find himself on the wrong side of the local Mafia boss. I am therefore assuming that the ‘unfriendlies’ are either the locals who are after him, or the Mafia ‘workhorses’ who have been sent to teach him a lesson …. either way it isn’t looking good!!

That’s just my supposition at the moment, as I haven’t quite reached that part of the book.

    • Hi Mary Ann

This is definitely a non-stop action book, which has me on the edge of seat, just waiting for the inevitable to happen, but not knowing exactly when that will be.

I am just getting to the place where my teaser lines are from, so I should find out just who the ‘unfriendlies’ are soon.

Thanks for the visit, I appreciate you leaving a comment, it is always good to chat with you.

    • Hi Heidi,

Thanks for taking the time to make your first visit to Fiction Books. I love to ‘meet’ new people, so I hope that it will be the first of many ‘chats’ that we have.

I have to feign complete ignorance when you mention NOLA. I did ‘google’ the letters and I assume that you meant NOLA as in New Orleans? I guess I can see where you are coming from when the teaser lines mention Lafayette Street, but the rest of the book has so far been set firmly in The Bronx. I am now almost up to the point in the book from where the teaser lines are taken and so far there has been no mention of anyone leaving the State and travelling, we shall just have to wait and see ….

Great comments, you came at it from a completely different perspective to everyone else.

    • Hi Vicki,

I am only a couple of pages away from discovering just who these ‘unfriendlies’ are, although I don’t think that Sean has made many friends, all the way through the book and he has seriously upset the local Mafia Don, so I think that his luck and fortunes are only headed one way!!

Action packed, non-stop suspense so far, a real page-turner that I am enjoying far more than I thought I might.

Thanks for stopping by. It is always good to hear from you and I appreciate your comments.
