Teaser Tuesday … 26th April 2011

My teaser lines this week come from a book that I have yet to start, although I hope to do so this week, as it is an author request to read and review.

I keep saying that I am going to read more books that are outside of my usual genres and therefore take me out of my comfort zone and this book will do just that, as it is a contemporary paranormal romance, from a great new Australian author, Dean Mayes.

As I have this book in PDF format, a specific page number for my teaser lines isn’t really relevant, so I shall just pick a page at random and go for it!

As usual, you can click on the Amazon link to read a full synopsis of the book and the link above will take you straight to the author’s site.

This Title Is Available From Amazon

‘Lionel chuckled softly at the nameless mention of Denny. He loaded the items into Sonya’s shoulder bag while she sipped her coffee quietly.’

‘”You know,” Lionel began, searching for something to change the direction of their gossiping conversation. “People are talking about the practice; they are looking forward to your reopening.”‘

Want To take Part In Teaser Tuesdays?

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of ‘Should Be Reading’.

Anyone can take part, by just doing the following:

1. Grab your current read.

2. Open to a random page.

3. Share two “teaser” sentences, from somewhere on that page.

4. Be careful not to share “spoiler” sentences, that give away too much about the book.

5. Remember to share the title and author too.

6. Head on over to ‘should be reading’ and leave a link to your post, so that others can share it.

Don’t forget that MizB and all the participants of the meme, love to receive your comments and thoughts, so please take the time to leave a comment after linking.

I hope you all have some great lines to share with me this week.

I can’t remember a time, even as a child, when I haven’t been passionate about books and reading.
I began blogging, when I realised just how many other people out there shared my passion for the written word and I have been continually amazed at the wealth of books that are available and the amount of great new friends I have made, from literally 'The Four Corners Of The World'.

    • Hi Marg,

That’s the great thing about blogging – you get to hear about some great overseas authors, that might never have come to your attention otherwise.

Plus chatting to so many friendly overseas bloggers, of course !!

    • Hi Shelley,

Dean is quite a new author on the scene, but the book is showing great promise so far.

It has even taken me out of my comfort reading zone, as it is my first foray into the paranormal romance genre, which must be a good thing !!

        • Hi Shelley,

The fantasy/paranormal/romance genre seems so popular right now and I have been promising myself to branch out and try it for ages. Dean contacting me, has given me no excuses now and so far I am glad that I have tried it.

    • Hi Jules,

Dean is an aspiring Australian author, quite new to the scene and one we shall be hearing more of, if the start of this book is anything to go by.

    • Hi Harvee,

This is my first attempt at reading a paranormal romance and it doesn’t seem to be too heavy going or intense at the moment, so it’ a great induction book into this new genre.

Plus, it is always great to be asked to review by the author, it focuses the mind a bit more!

    • Hi Gautami,

No more book buying eh!! I don’t believe that for one minute !!

I have been banned from buying any more books by my long suffering husband, But that doesn’t mean that I can stop friends and family giving me books, does it now !!

    • Hi Zakiya,

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, it is much appreciated and it is lovely to ‘meet’ you.

    • Hi Julie,

Thanks for stopping by and introducing yourself, it is always good to ‘meet’ new people.

I’m not sure what they are talking about yet, as I have only just started the book, but I have an inkling where the storyline is taking me, so I’ll have to wait and see if I am right or not.

    • Hi Yvonne,

There are just so many interesting books out there, too many for a lifetime!

The great thing about blogging is that you get some fantastic recommendations, the downside (if it can be called that), is that TBR piles and wish lists, become unmanageable mountains !!!

  • Great website you have here. Its so different – like a personal business site 🙂
I agree with you about the HuGE TBR piles, but I’ve been really bad about going through them and reading..I just pick my next book from these TT memes, or from the library. The TBR lists just grows and grows!
My teaser is from a YA book too – albeit a very different one, written almost like archaic steampunkery at e-Volving Books

    • Hi Deepali,

Thanks for visiting the site and leaving such a lovely comment. I have ‘met’ so many nice people, since starting my blog, it’s the best thing about the whole experience.

My TBR pile is still growing at an alarming rate, which I seem unable to control !!

I just can’t understand how choosing books takes so much less time than reading them, Ha Ha !!!

  • I loved this teaser and it definitely has me curious for more. Will be looking for review…enjoy

    • It was a fantastic book, review will be on the way shortly, only good things to say about it.

I am fervently hoping that the draft of his new book is ready soon.
