“In Their Own Words

Leah Fleming – Author Of ‘Mothers And Daughters’

It is always good to be able to highlight a quote or few lines of text, that have been attributed directly to an author that I have enjoyed reading; as unscripted, unrehearsed statements can quite often open the door onto the true personality of that person, highlight just what motivates them and, most importantly, to hopefully learn from where they glean their inspiration.

Leah Fleming, was the highlighted author in my review of ‘Mothers And Daughters’,  an emotionally charged tale of the special relationships that exist between mothers and daughters.

These are some of her own words…

This Title Is Available From Amazon

“To write well you have to punch above your weight, reading authors far more skilled than you will ever be.

Quality will out and I hope by osmosis some of it will seep through into my own prose.

If I ever stop reading for pleasure, escape or instruction, that will be the time to quit writing too.”

I can’t remember a time, even as a child, when I haven’t been passionate about books and reading.
I began blogging, when I realised just how many other people out there shared my passion for the written word and I have been continually amazed at the wealth of books that are available and the amount of great new friends I have made, from literally 'The Four Corners Of The World'.

  • That last quote fits so well with my own maxim:

If you ever stop learning that is the time to stop teaching. You’re no good to pupils or students, whatever their age if you’ve stopped being open to new ideas yourself.

    • Hello Annie,

I couldn’t agree with you more.

An open mind is the only way to maintain your learning capabilities, or it is so easy to get left behind in this fast moving, ever-changing world, with it’s frenetic pace of life.
