New On My Shelf This Week

This download arrived in my mailbox from Aria Fiction, via NetGalley, ahead of my spot on the upcoming Blog Tour, which I shall be headlining on Monday 11th June 2018, with an amazing Guest Post.

THE ACCUSATION

Cover Image Of The Book 'The Accusation' By Author Zosia WandEve lives in the beautiful Cumbrian town of Tarnside with her husband Neil. After years of trying, and failing, to become parents, they are in the final stages of adopting four-year-old Milly.

Though she already feels like their daughter, they just have to get through the ‘settling in’ period: three months of living as a family before they can make it official.

But then Eve’s mother, Joan, comes to stay.

Joan has never liked her son-in-law. He isn’t right for Eve; too controlling, too opinionated. She knows Eve has always wanted a family, but is Neil the best man to build one with?

Then Joan uncovers something that could smash Eve’s family to pieces…

ZOSIA WAND – (Author image by Mark Harrison)

Image Of Author Zosia Wand Taken By Mark HarrisonA vibrant mix of Polish and English, Zosia has an exotic name and can do miraculous things with a cabbage, but speaks with a cockney accent. She makes and drapes her house in bunting, likes fairy lights and fairy tales and continues to obsess about the contents of the perfect sandwich. She might raise her head from a book occasionally to feed her long suffering children, but they don’t hold their breath, suspecting she prefers her imaginary characters to the real ones that surround her.

An urban southerner living in the north west, she has driven the same car for what seems like 100 years and climbs Hoad Hill every day, to a lighthouse with no lamp, to look out across the sands of Morecambe Bay. It should come as no surprise that she settled in a Cumbrian festival town famous for breaking the world record in pie fighting.  She loves to write and read and runs creatively stimulating events and courses for people who share the same passions.

Zosia gained an MA with distinction in Creative Writing from Lancaster University in 1999 and has written many plays, several of which, together with a drama serial, have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and produced for the stage. She also wrote and performed the monologue, Pearl, at the Brewery Arts Centre Kendal (November 2012).

Her first novel, Trust Me, was  published by Head of Zeus in October 2017.

I can’t remember a time, even as a child, when I haven’t been passionate about books and reading.
I began blogging, when I realised just how many other people out there shared my passion for the written word and I have been continually amazed at the wealth of books that are available and the amount of great new friends I have made, from literally 'The Four Corners Of The World'.

    • Joan sounds like typical mother-in-law material, so I wonder if she has managed to dig some dirt on Neil?

Or perhaps her interfering has led to a discovery about Milly or her natural family, which might affect the adoption if Neil and Eve were to find out about it?

I do enjoy a good family drama, especially when you just have the feeling that all is not going to end well!

Thanks for stopping by Kathy and have a good week 🙂

  • This does sound very intriguing! I’m wondering if that title gives a hint… it’s certainly got my imagination going.

Looking forward to the guest post next week!

    • Zosia’s Guest Post is definitely appropriate for the opening spot on the Blog Tour and I hope that you will think so too.

I am wondering exactly who will be accusing who, and of what! The obvious assumption may not be the reality.

So far there has only been one review posted on Amazon and although it does contain a small ‘spoiler’, it still really doesn’t give anything away.

      Have a good week 🙂

    • Having extended family who have had to trudge through the everlasting adoption system in this country, I can imagine that there will be plenty of twists and turns in the storyline right from the word go, without the added intrigue of Jean’s visit and investigations!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Reading 🙂

    • The whole process of adoption is intense enough, without the added trauma of the mother-in-law from hell landing on you – Or maybe Jean is going to be the avenging angel, who brings a reality to the situation before someone gets hurt more than they need to be!

Whatever the scenario, this one sounds just right for me 🙂

    • I don’t think I have read a story about an adoption before, or if I have it must have been some time ago and I don’t remember it.

I am figuring it will be quite an intensive and emotionally charged story and I am looking forward to reading it.

Thanks for continuing to keep MM alive, it is a great meme 🙂

    • I’m still left wondering if Jean is going to be all that upset about destroying her daughter’s life, or if she is secretly going to relish it!

The suspense is already killing me and the book is still quite a long way from the top of my list!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy what is left of your weekend 🙂
