One new author review request this week, but for me a great find from one of my favourite genres, that of the murder/mystery.
This is no ordinary murder/mystery investigation though … ‘Dream of the Dead’ takes me firmly into new territory, as the murder takes place right in the heart of London’s West End theatre scene (another passion of mine) and introduces me to a detective with a difference …

I must admit that if I was about to be murdered, I would want it to be over with quickly, but most importantly of all, painlessly.
This sounds like a horrible way to die and I don’t do pain very well … LOL!

Matthew has certainly had a change in direction with this more contemporary murder / mystery series, a total turnaround from the historical fiction he is used to writing. He is most definitely giving his new character DI Ravenshaw a challenging and unique case with which to begin the series. It will be interesting to see where he finds himself in the sequel, just how much more intense can his cases become?
I hope that you may have the opportunity to grab yourself a copy one day, it would be interesting to compare notes!

Christmas and Boxing day weather has been lovely, went for a long walk this morning and just had our own Christmas dinner, as we were with relatives yesterday.
All tempered with much sadness as our best friend is in her local hospice, receiving end of life care for cancer. At 51, with two teenages sons (both our Godsons), there isn’t much justice!

We used to go up to the West End theatres on a fairly regular basis, but we haven’t done so for some time now and after reading the book’s synopsis, I am not sure that I really want to either. I know that this is one of the most vibrant areas of London, but had no idea that it is also one of the most violent!
Mind you, I would be hoping not to have my stomach destroyed by a corrosive acid…I wonder whether the producer drank the stuff unknowingly, or whether it was forced down his throat … might it even be that his stomach was burned from the outside inwards? … I can’t wait to find out!
