This week’s new addition to the shelf here at Fiction Books, comes courtesy of an author whose work I have admired and been reading for some time now and who I know will always have a story to tell, which will keep me turning the pages faster and faster as I get closer to the final climax and which always has the power to surprise and horrify me!
For his latest adventure, Layton has left his regular characters of Dominic and Viktor (‘The Dominic Grey’ series) behind, instead introducing a stand alone story which sounds every bit as exciting and has the added advantage of a great opening price for all his loyal fans.
Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house during the last week. Be warned that Mailbox Monday can lead to envy toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
Mailbox Monday now has a permanent home, where links may be added each week. So why not stop by, leave a link to your own Mailbox Monday post, oh! and don’t forget to leave a comment for our three new joint administrators, after all, we all like to receive them … ‘Mailbox Monday’
Leslie of ‘Under My Apple Tree’
Serena of ‘Savvy Verse & Wit’
Vicki of ‘I’d Rather Be At The Beach’
This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!
THE METAXY PROJECT
Rising above a hardscrabble childhood to become a star at one of Atlanta’s most prestigious law firms, Derek Miller is reliving The Great Gatsby in his own backyard. The spell is broken, however, when Derek’s investigation into the death of his mentor, a prominent psychologist, runs afoul of a mysterious government project involving research into psychic phenomena.
As Derek digs deeper, convinced his mentor was murdered, he is plunged into a rabbit hole of government experiments, clandestine figures, and supposed paranormal events. His investigation also puts him at odds with shadowy forces deep within the corridors of power — including those on the top floor of his own law firm.
With his career in shambles, a warrant out for his arrest, and his life in jeopardy, Derek is running out of time to unravel the secrets surrounding his mentor’s research. And if he fails, it’s not just his own life that will be at risk, but the lives of those he holds most dear.
From a theoretical physicist to a clairvoyant housewife to the charismatic pastor of a mega-church, from lavish Southern mansions to desperate urban wasteland, Derek’s investigation turns into a race for survival that hinges on one thing alone: finding, and stopping, the most powerful psychic the world has ever seen.
In addition to writing, Layton Green attended law school in New Orleans and was a practicing attorney for the better part of a decade (even though he still resents having cut his hair for that first interview). He has also been an intern for the United Nations, an ESL teacher in Central America, a bartender in London, a seller of cheap knives on the streets of Brixton, a door-to-door phone book deliverer, and the list goes downhill from there.
He has travelled to more than fifty countries, lived in a number of them, and has a burning desire to see every country, city, beach, moor, castle, cemetery, twisted street and far flung dot on the map. Religion and cults, as well as all things spiritual and supernatural, have also been a lifelong interest.
“Here’s the deal: the novel drops on Friday, May 9, and there will be an opening weekend promotional price of $.99 for two days only (May 9-10) . Then it’s going up. I wanted to try something different by giving my core readers a chance to buy early, at a ridiculously low price. I won’t be able to do this with every book . . . but I’m doing it with this one.”
Layton has also assured me that he will doing everything possible to afford the equivalent great deal, for his loyal readers outside of the USA.
I shall return to update any necessary links, or additional information, so that everyone who wants a copy of ‘The Metaxy Project’, gets it!
I am looking forward to sharing some of your great ‘new finds’ this week, and for all you fans of a good murder /thriller, at this great offer price, why not share my ‘new find’.
