YvonneGail had flown in from New Jersey to stay with them a little over a week earlier and was in her last week of ‘sun and fun LA style,’ as she called it. The girls had been nearly lifelong friends since meeting at the University of Chicago. Gail was an undergrad at the university, and Molly was working in administration when the two met and hit it off.
They were kindred spirits and became close friends and confidants before Molly moved to LA where she met and married Steve. Gail moved to New York after being accepted to Columbia University where she would meet her husband-to-be. While there was a fifteen year age difference between Gail and Molly, it had no impact on their friendship. The bond between the two women never changed; it only grew stronger with distance. After Gail graduated, they kept in touch and visited each other the same time every year. Molly would go out to see Gail and her husband, but Steve rarely joined her because of work. Gail’s husband, Bob, was a New York City Police Officer, so the two men had a lot in common and both saw very little of their wives. Steve knew Bob mostly from telephone conversations.

These teaser lines were literally taken from the page I landed on when I was writing the post and I don’t think I would be giving too much away by saying that no, they in no way match the cover art, or reflect the general theming or content of the storyline. These relatively quite and thoughtful moments are definitely few and far between, in this story of revenge and retribution.

I am really enjoying the story so far, although ‘enjoying’ may not be quite the right word, as you really do need to have a strong stomach to stand the explicit nature of the acts of retribution.
Definitely not the type of content I could read on too regular a basis, however the storyline fully supports the actions and I might have even worked out who the ‘Iron Eagle’ is!

Yes… I thought it looked a bit full on there. I don’t mind military sci fi or fantasy where the battle scenes can be gory – but mostly, the violence is a bit more fleeting and less creepy than some of the psychological crime thrillers we are seeing these days.
Sci-Fi and Fantasy are not my most favourite genres, I have to admit, although that doesn’t stop me commenting when folks feature them, as I can still appreciate some of the great cover art and excellent excerpts on offer 🙂
I don’t mind a story with a good dose of blood and guts, but some of this is just downright sadistic, although I guess that outside of my sheltered life, in the ‘real’ world, these things are really going on – Ugh!
Hmmm. It seems like the title and cover don’t fit the story inside from your teases. Hope you are enjoying it.

These really are random teaser lines from my current reading page this week and I have to say that this particular passage from the book, could very much lead you into a false sense of security – If I were you, I would stick with the cover art and title!

As teaser lines go, I am still not sure if they are in any way relevant to the storyline. The next couple of pages are even more interesting! Although once again may have nothing to do with the sadistic nature of the premise and the main protagonist.

I’m not sure how much these teasers really draw me in. Looking back at the earlier posts, though, I remember being fascinated by the premise as I do love vigilante stories. I was also surprised to find the comment from the author stating that there are now 14 books in this series!! As interesting as it sounds, I’m not ready to embark on a series of that length right now.
Here’s my teaser from “Stone’s Fall” by Iain Pears:
(page 159) “The first word was enough to turn all my steely resolution a little rusty. All sorts of stories flooded into my mind A lost twin. Devoted sisters torn asunder, and now reunited. All nonsense. It could not possibly be so. Could it? The doubt was small, but enough because I wanted it to be so. I washed and shaved and dressed in clean clothes, and by the time I was ready to face the world I was decided. I would see her. Just in case.”

These teaser lines are in no way reflective of the story, this is vigilante stuff that would make ‘Death Wish’ or ‘Dirty Harry’ look tame, although there are probably as many installments in the ‘Iron Eagle’ series.
As with Paul Kersey and Harry Callahan, I have already worked out just who the ‘Iron Eagle’ is, although I was still a bit annoyed when I checked the synopsis for one of the sequel books in the series, only to find that it told readers anyway!
As you also know, I am not a fan of books that don’t work as stand alones, so unless the ‘Iron Eagle’ is unmasked at the end of this book, then for me it is an unfinished work, as I probably won’t be reading the rest of the series (a bit too samey for me!).
Having said all that, I am still enjoying the storyline so far, although the violence is a bit graphic in places …

Also I wonder why he comments on seeng her ‘just in case’ – ‘Just in case’ of what?
I’m not certain that the premise grabs my attention right from the start, but the storyline is quite intriguing and compelling nonetheless.

This is the first book in a rather lengthy series, which I have to admit I probably won’t be following to its conclusion, purely for the amount of written pages it involves, rather than anything else.
If you check out the series on Goodreads, you will see that all the covers follow pretty much the same imaging, the only difference being the colour tones. For me, the cover art is a little dated, but at least it is consistent.
A series best read in sequence I think, so ‘Rise Of The Iron Eagle’ would definitely be your taster, to see how you are going to like it 🙂
At first I thought the Teaser was the book’s blurb! There’s lots of “telling” instead of “showing” in that excerpt. However, the plot sounds good. I hope you’re enjoying the story.

These words are from one of the ‘quieter’ moments in this action packed storyline, as described by Molly’s husband Steve, a police officer. Steve is about to get the shock of his life and it is nothing to do with the horrific case he is working on, to track ‘The Iron Eagle’!
