These teaser lines are taken roughly from the 50% marker of my Kindle download.

You can tease yourself a little more, by reading the first few lines of the story … here.

TEASER TUESDAY …

is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of ‘Should Be Reading’.

Anyone can take part, by just doing the following:

  1.  Grab your current read.
  2.  Open to a random page.
  3. Share a couple of  “teaser” sentences, from somewhere on that page.
  4. Be careful not to share “spoiler” sentences.
  5. Remember to share the title and author too.
  6. Head on over to ‘should be reading’ and leave a link to your post, so that others can share it and you can share other people’s.

It would be great if you then decided to leave a comment for MizB, as we all like to receive them and are interested in sharing your thoughts.

This was a competition win from an author guest post, with the lovely Naida over at ‘The Bookworm‘. Author, Jessica Scott, kindly sent me the free gift of a  Kindle download.

This will in no way influence any comments I may express about the book, in any blog articles I may post. Any thoughts or comments will be my own personal opinion and I am in no way being monetarily compensated for this, or any other article.

I can’t remember a time, even as a child, when I haven’t been passionate about books and reading.
I began blogging, when I realised just how many other people out there shared my passion for the written word and I have been continually amazed at the wealth of books that are available and the amount of great new friends I have made, from literally 'The Four Corners Of The World'.

    • Hi Beth,

That particular scene is quite sad and revealing, in the context of the overall storyline. However, there are plenty of tantrums, fights and rejections along the way …. and I am only just past the half way point in the book!!

Thanks for taking the time to comment, your thoughts are always appreciated.

    • Hi Beth,

This isn’t the genre of book that I could read on too regular a basis, but as an occasional light read, I can cope with it.

That cover is quite something isn’t it? There is a matching pair, if you check out the cover of Jessica’s first book ‘Because Of You’. The characters are not the same ones in the first story and the image shows the back view of the man, which isn’t quite so hot, but very passable!! LOL

    • Hi Laurel-Rain,

Jessica is still a relatively new author, although her output of books does seem to be coming thick and fast, since I have started following her.

Those teaser lines are pivotal to quite an emotional scene about half way through the book, although they are only half the story, as both Evan and Claire have secrets from their past they are hiding. I have some idea of what Claire’s nemesis might be, but I am waiting to discover the whole story!!

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment, you are always welcome.

  • I have this book on my kindle but just haven’t had a chance to read it yet – I’ve heard good things about it though.

    Here’s my TT

    • Hi Maria,

Thanks for stopping by Fiction Books today. I love ‘meeting’ new people and your visits and comments will always be welcome and appreciated.

You sound a little like myself. I have so many author and publisher review requests, that books just seem to languish on my Kindle or PC, for what must seem like eternity for the person waiting for the review to be published.

I do get to them all eventually, including this book, which has, I have to say, received some pretty mixed reviews. I am only a little over half way through reading the book, so I am holding judgement until I see how Jessica develops the characters, towards the story conclusion.

There are some pretty disturbing and important questions and scenario’s being raised, which for me, have almost put the sizzling romance onto the back burner, that’s all I am going to say right now!!

    • Hi Sandra,

I am about half way through the book and so far it has been chock full of some great descriptive sentences and excellent phraseology like that. I would be spoilt for choice to have to select a couple of memorable lines for a review.

Thanks for stopping by, it is always a pleasure to chat with you.

    • Hi Zenia,

Both Evan and Claire have had their fair share of tragedy and pain in their early lives, before both throwing caution to the wind and becoming career soldiers. Now it seems as though the years have been rolled back and past terrors are coming back to haunt them, along with the new horrors brought about by their war-time experiences. So far, this is one of the few pages of the book where they aren’t ripping each other apart!

Thanks for choosing to stop by Fiction Books today. I love ‘meeting’ new people and your visits and comments will always be welcome.

    • Hi Yvonne,

The first book, which I haven’t read, seems to have recieved much better reviews than this one, which has had a mixed response to say the least.

For many the problem seems to be that ‘Until There Was You’ doesn’t feature the same characters as ‘Because Of You’, which some think was left as something of an unfinished storyline.

The good news is, that Jessica is, as we speak, working on a follow up story for the characters in ‘Because Of You’ and ‘Until There Was You’ is working fine for me as far as I have read, although no doubt I shall also be rather disgruntled if I get to the end, only to find that the story doesn’t have a definitive conclusion and I have to wait for a sequel.

I am glad that you enjoyed the first book and that you will also like ‘Until There Was You’, when it gets to the top of your pile.

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your comments.
